How it works

About Dot Dash

Dot Dash designs and builds the device, the Dot Dash app, and the messaging service that connects them. Every message a Dot Dash sends or receives is delivered by Dot Dash's own servers, which also handle software updates, contact approvals and the Log.

SMS notifications are one feature of that service, described below.

SMS notifications (optional)

Someone without a Dot Dash, like a grandparent, can message one from our chat page using a private link the account holder sends them. On that page they can choose to get an SMS notification when a new message is waiting. Notifications only say that a message is waiting and link back to the chat. They never contain what anyone wrote. This is optional. Nobody has to receive SMS messages to use Dot Dash.

We never message a number that wasn't signed up this way. See the full opt-in flow.
You get one confirmation, then a notification only when a message is waiting: at most one until you've looked at the chat again. For example: Dot Dash: you have a new message from Maya's Dot Dash. Open it here: https://dotdashdevice.com/c/
Notifications come from (866) 786-1245. Reply STOP at any time to stop, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Mobile numbers are stored encrypted and are never shared or sold for marketing. Turning notifications off deletes your number.
